Accident
While approaching Cam Ranh Bay Airport on a flight from Phan Rang, an engine failed. The crew lost control of the aircraft, which crashed a few kilometers from the airfield, resulting in three fatalities and one survivor.
Crew
The crew consisted of Maj Grant Reed Waugh, Capt Dwaine Elbyrne Mattox, and T/Sgt Bernard Francis Morrill. A fourth crew member, whose name is unknown, was also aboard. One crew member survived the accident; the other three perished.
Probable Cause
The official investigation determined that the probable cause was loss of control caused by an engine failure on approach.
