What happened
During the landing phase at Saigon-Tan .Tan Son Nhat Airport, an aircraft experienced a structural failure of its forward landing gear immediately upon contact with the runway. The collapse of the nose gear caused the plane to lose stability and slide along the runway surface for a distance of several yards before the movement ceased.
There were no injuries reported among the five crew members on board during the incident. However, the impact and subsequent sliding resulted in the aircraft being declared a total loss, as it was determined to be damaged beyond repair.
Findings
Official investigations into the accident concluded that the primary factor leading to the runway excursion was the collapse of the nose gear during the touchdown sequence.
