Single-engine aircraft crash into sea near Belmonte (8)

What happened

The flight originated at Salvador with a single destination of Belmonte. The pilot was the only person on board the aircraft at the time of departure. During the final approach phase for Belmonte, the pilot lost control of the airplane. The loss of control resulted in the aircraft impacting the sea surface and subsequently sinking.

Findings

The accident resulted in one fatality. The pilot, identified as Cpt Emilio Gaelzer, was killed when the aircraft went down into the water. No other individuals were present on board to sustain injuries or survive the event.
