Occurrence Details
On 15th February 2019 at approximately 6:15 PM local time, a Piper Aerostar 600 aircraft, registration N3643D, was involved in an abnormal runway contact incident at Walker’s Cay Airport (MYAW), Bahamas. The aircraft had departed from Fort Pierce, Florida (KFPR) with two persons on board.
Aircraft and Damage
The aircraft, manufactured in 1981 with serial number 6008358161238, was equipped with two Lycoming IO-540 engines. It was operating under private category. The landing was performed with the landing gear retracted, resulting in damage to both propellers. No other damage was reported.
Injuries and Conditions
There were no injuries reported among the two occupants. The weather at the time of the occurrence was visual meteorological conditions, and weather was not considered a factor.
Investigation
The Air Accident Investigation Department (AAID) conducted a limited scope field investigation. No safety messages or recommendations were issued as part of this occurrence bulletin. The investigation was completed and the final report released on 20th August 2019.
