Occurrence Details
On 14 October 2019, at approximately 11:00 AM local time, a Cessna 421C twin-engine aircraft, registration N217PG, was involved in a runway excursion at Normans Cay Airport (MYEN), Exuma, Bahamas. The aircraft was operating under commercial rules with six persons on board: one pilot and five passengers.
Sequence of Events
The pilot reported that after landing on runway 21, during the landing roll, he applied the brakes but experienced no braking action. The aircraft continued beyond the usable runway surface, struck the perimeter fencing, then traversed down an embankment and came to rest in the ocean approximately 200 feet from the end of the runway.
Damage
The aircraft sustained damage to the nose cone, nose gear, both wings, left elevator, and main landing gears.
Injuries
No injuries were reported among the occupants.
Weather
Weather conditions at the time were visual meteorological conditions. The investigation determined that weather was not a contributing factor.
Investigation
The Air Accident Investigation Department (AAID) conducted a limited-scope investigation. No safety messages or recommendations were issued as a result of this occurrence.
