Occurrence
On 14 October 2018, at 11:45 AM (1545 UTC), a Beechcraft BE-58, registration N886TS, was involved in a runway excursion after landing at New Bight Airport (MYCB) on Cat Island, Bahamas. The flight had originated from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE) with two persons on board.
Pilot Statement
The pilot reported that the landing gear indication lights confirmed all gears were down and locked. However, during touchdown and the subsequent landing roll, the left main landing gear collapsed. This resulted in a loss of directional control.
Outcome
As a consequence of the gear collapse, the aircraft veered off the runway and came to rest in bushes approximately 94 feet from the runway edge. Significant damage was sustained to the left wing, both propellers, possibly the engines, the nose landing gear, main landing gear, and the lower fuselage. No injuries to the occupants were reported.
Weather and Investigation
The weather at the time of the occurrence was visual meteorological conditions and was not considered a factor. The Air Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA) conducted a limited-scope investigation. No safety messages or recommendations were issued as a result of this investigation.
