What happened
During a flight departing from a remote area in Te Uku, situated near Raglan, an aircraft experienced a loss of control shortly after departing the runway. During the initial climb phase, the aircraft struck a fence, which subsequently led to a crash. The impact caused the aircraft to ignite, resulting in a post-crash fire that completely destroyed the airframe.
Findings
- The pilot managed to exit the wreckage immediately following the impact.
- There were no injuries reported for the pilot.
- The aircraft was destroyed by fire following the collision with the fence.
