What happened
During a domestic scheduled flight operated by Jubba Airways, the aircraft was performing its landing sequence on runway 05 at Mogadishu Airport. As the aircraft touched down, the right main landing gear experienced a mechanical failure. This malfunction caused the aircraft to deviate from the runway centerline, veering toward the right side of the strip.
Following the loss of directional control, the aircraft rolled for several dozen meters before striking a concrete perimeter fence. The impact caused the aircraft to come to a complete stop. While the incident resulted in substantial structural damage, including the destruction of the nose section, bending of the fuselage, and severe damage to the right engine and right wing, no fire broke out during the event.
Findings
- The primary factor in the excursion was the failure of the right main landing gear during the landing phase.
- All 24 occupants on board were able to evacuate the aircraft without injury.
