What happened
While performing a takeoff roll on runway 31 at Mohel-Bandar es Eslam Airport, the flight crew executed an aborted takeoff procedure. At a high velocity, the decision was made to reject the takeoff, prompting the initiation of emergency braking maneuvers.
Despite these efforts, the aircraft was unable to halt within the available runway length. The plane subsequently overran the end of the runway, where it collided with vegetation, including bushes and trees. During the excursion, the right main landing gear was lost. The aircraft eventually came to a stop within a wooded area.
Outcomes
- All 52 occupants of the aircraft were successfully rescued from the wreckage.
- While there were no fatalities, several individuals sustained injuries, with some classified as serious.
