What happened
During a flight from Amsterdam-Schiphol to Ockenburg Air Force Base, the aircraft came under attack by enemy forces. The plane was engaged by a pilot flying a Me.109 fighter. Following the engagement, the aircraft crashed into the sea near Kijkduin, located off the coast of The Hague.
Of the five individuals on board, four lost their lives in the incident. One crew member managed to bail out and survived the crash. The victims included two pilots, an observer, a wireless operator, and an air gunner.
Findings
The official determination concluded that the accident resulted from hostile action. The aircraft was shot down by a German fighter while en route to its destination.
