What happened
On March 22, an aircraft was preparing for a scheduled departure from Djolu Airport, intended for a flight to Kinshasa. The aircraft had previously undergone repairs following damage sustained during a landing at the same airport on March 12.
During the takeoff roll on the unpaved runway, the aircraft began to accelerate after the brakes were released. During this phase, the plane drifted from the runway centerline, eventually striking trees in a nearby forested area. The impact caused the aircraft to catch fire, resulting in the total destruction of the airframe.
Outcomes
- The flight was operated by a crew of three individuals, consisting of two pilots and one mechanic.
- All crew members successfully evacuated the burning wreckage.
- There were one injury reported, sustained by the mechanic, while no fatalities occurred.
