What happened
Following its departure from Kinshasa-Ndolo Airport, the flight crew identified mechanical issues involving the aircraft's undercarriage. In response to these technical difficulties, air traffic control authorized a diversion to Kinshasa-N'Djili Airport.
During the approach to runway 24, the aircraft performed a belly landing. After making contact with the runway, the plane slid for several dozen meters before veering toward the right side of the strip, eventually coming to a stop in a nearby grassy field. Despite the impact, all 26 occupants managed to evacuate the aircraft without injury.
Findings
Preliminary observations suggest that the left main gear was lost during the initial takeoff phase from Kinshasa-Ndolo Airport. The specific reason for the gear being torn away remains undetermined. The aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
