What happened
An unauthorized flight path was being executed from Colombia toward the United States, with a planned stop in Cancún, Mexico. During the cruise phase of the flight over Mexican airspace, the aircraft was identified and tracked by a Mexican Air Force Embraer EMB-145.
In response to the interception, the crew attempted to perform an emergency landing. However, the aircraft crashed in an open field situated near Tixkokob. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. Following the crash, the two members of the crew were taken into custody by authorities.
Upon inspection of the wreckage, officials discovered a massive quantity of narcotics on board. The cargo consisted of 132 bags, each weighing 25 kilograms, totaling approximately 3.3 tons of cocaine.
