Accident Overview
On 11 February 2025, a Niviuk Artik R paraglider fell onto the lawn during landing at Ngong Ping, Ma On Shan, Hong Kong. The pilot remained attached to the paraglider and sustained injuries, falling into a coma. He later regained consciousness and was airlifted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital by a helicopter of the Government Flying Service for medical management.
Investigation Status
The Air Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA) of Hong Kong is conducting an investigation in accordance with the Hong Kong Civil Aviation (Investigation of Accidents) Regulations (Cap. 448B) and Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation. The investigation team is currently analysing all collected evidence and information to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident. A report is being drafted.
Interim Statement
As per paragraph 6.6 of Annex 13, if the final report cannot be made publicly available within twelve months, an interim statement will be published on each anniversary of the occurrence. This interim statement, dated 10 February 2026, details the progress of the investigation and notes that no safety issues have been raised at this time.
