Synopsis
At 00:03 on 14 October 2021, a Siberia Airlines Boeing 737-800BCF, registration VP-BEN, operating flight SBI8817 from Irkutsk International Airport, landed on Runway 07L at Hong Kong International Airport. While following air traffic control instructions to vacate the runway via Taxiway A7, the aircraft taxied onto a paved area between Taxiways A6 and A7, which was a section of a twin-taxiway system under construction for future operations. The aircraft stopped in front of marker boards and was instructed by ATC to shut down engines. Inspection by ground engineers found no damage to the aircraft or airport facilities. No persons were injured. The investigation resulted in two safety recommendations.
