What happened
On March 8, 2024, at 17:40 UTC, a Tecnam P92 (registration LV-S081) was performing a general aviation training flight from Morón Airport (SADF) to San Antonio de Areco Aerodrome (SAAA). While the aircraft was on final approach to runway 07, the left main landing gear made contact with the aerodrome's perimeter fencing just before the wheels touched the runway surface. The impact resulted in significant damage to the aircraft. There were two occupants on board, and no injuries were reported following the incident.
The investigation
The JST investigation focused on the flight path and the physical circumstances surrounding the contact with the airfield boundary. The aircraft was operating under Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) during a controlled takeoff and landing (CTOL) operation. The investigation examined the sequence of the landing approach and the positioning of the aircraft relative to the perimeter fence at the time of the strike.
