What happened
On May 12, 2022, a Rockwell 690B, registration LV-MYA, was conducting a general aviation ferry flight from San Fernando International Airport to Formosa International Airport. During the cruise phase of the flight, the crew observed a decrease in hydraulic pressure within the aircraft's systems. As a precautionary measure, the crew declared an emergency to manage the situation.
The aircraft subsequently diverted to Resistencia International Airport in the province of Chaco. The crew successfully completed the landing without further incident or damage to the aircraft. There were no injuries reported among the two occupants on board.
The investigation
The Argentine Transportation Safety Board (JST) conducted a technical investigation into the incident. The inquiry focused on the mechanical failure that caused the hydraulic pressure fluctuation. Investigators examined the aircraft's condition following the event and reviewed the operational circumstances surrounding the emergency declaration.
Findings
- The primary cause of the emergency was a non-engine component failure that resulted in a drop in hydraulic pressure.
- The crew followed established safety protocols by declaring an emergency and opting for a precautionary landing at the nearest suitable aerodrome.
- The aircraft sustained no damage during the landing or as a result of the mechanical failure.
