What happened
During an approach to Toluca-Licenciado Adolfo López Mateos, the crew of an aircraft traveling from Cancún encountered mechanical difficulties involving the landing gear. Due to the failure of the undercarriage, the decision was made to execute a belly landing on runway 15/33.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft slid for several dozen meters along the runway surface. The friction of the landing caused the plane to catch fire. Despite the presence of flames, all 9 occupants were able to evacuate the aircraft without injury. The aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
Findings
- The primary factor leading to the emergency landing was technical problems with the undercarriage during the approach phase.
