What happened
An aircraft traveling from Mexico City was performing an approach to runway 23 at Hermosili-General Ignacio Pesqueira Garcia Airport when the accident occurred. While descending, air traffic control notified the crew regarding deteriorating weather conditions and reduced visibility in the area.
During the final approach phase, while the aircraft was at an altitude of 1,800 feet, it collided with the slope of Mt El Bachoco. The impact took place approximately 10.4 km before reaching the threshold of runway 23. The collision resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft and nine fatalities.
