What happened
Following an ambulance mission from Campo de Marte AFB, the aircraft was performing a return flight to its home base at Rio de Janeiro-Santos Dumont. During the initial climb phase from runway 30, the aircraft reached an altitude of approximately 1,400 feet when it experienced a sudden right-side roll reaching a 90-degree angle. This maneuver led to an uncontrolled descent into a residential neighborhood.
The aircraft struck several houses on Bernardino de Sena Street, which subsequently ignited. The impact and following fire resulted in seven fatalities, including both pilots and six individuals on the ground. Additionally, six people sustained serious injuries during the incident.
