What happened
During a skydiving mission intended to prepare for an upcoming airshow, two twin-engine aircraft were operating in the same airspace. The first aircraft, registered OM-ODQ, was transporting 17 skydivers and two crew members. Simultaneously, a second Let L-410, registered OM-SAB, was also carrying 17 skydivers and two crew members.
As the aircraft were ascending to an altitude between 1,400 and 1,500 meters, the pilot of OM-ODQ attempted to maneuver closer to OM-SAB. During this maneuver, the two planes collided in mid-air. Following the impact, most of the skydivers managed to exit the aircraft before the planes descended into a forested area situated north of the airfield. The crash resulted in seven fatalities, consisting of all four crew members and three skydivers (one from the first aircraft and two from the second). The remaining skydivers survived the incident.
