Incident
A twin-engine charter aircraft operating a flight from Medellín-Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport to Capurganá departed at 1610 local time. The aircraft carried 16 passengers and two pilots. After landing on runway 03 at Capurganá-Narcisa Navas Airport, the aircraft deviated to the left, veered off the runway, rolled through a grassy area, collided with a perimeter fence, and came to rest against a tree.
All 18 occupants were rescued. Among them, three were injured: the captain suffered serious injuries, and two others sustained minor injuries. The aircraft was destroyed.
Probable Cause
The official investigation determined that the accident was caused by a loss of control after touchdown following the execution of an unstabilized approach. The investigation also identified several contributing factors: low situational awareness on the part of the crew during approach and landing procedures, pilot fatigue, absence of sterile cockpit, and total ignorance of the crew regarding the landing distance needed.
