Incident Overview

The aircraft, a four-engine type, was operating a round trip itinerary from Incirlik Air Base with stops at Sinop, Erzurum, and Erzincan. During the flight segment from Erzurum to Erzincan, while cruising at an altitude of 20,000 feet, the aircraft suddenly went out of control. It entered a dive and impacted the ground, disintegrating in a snow-covered field near Gevenlik, approximately 68 kilometers northeast of Erzincan Airport. The aircraft was completely destroyed, and all 27 persons on board were killed.

The official investigation determined the probable cause of the accident. It was found that engine number 4 separated from the aircraft during flight.
