What happened
Upon completing its landing at São Tomé Airport, a four-engine airplane experienced a loss of braking capability or insufficient stopping distance. Following touchdown, the aircraft was unable to decelerate within the available runway length, leading to an overrun of the paved surface. The aircraft eventually came to a halt after exiting the runway area.
There were five occupants on board during the incident. All individuals managed to evacuate the aircraft without sustaining any injuries. While no casualties were reported, the impact and excursion resulted in the aircraft being declared a total loss, as it sustained damage beyond repair.
Findings
- The aircraft failed to remain within the runway boundaries following touchdown.
- The primary factor was the inability of the aircraft to stop before the end of the available runway distance.
