What happened
During the final approach phase at Luanda-4 de Fevereiro Airport, the flight crew conducted an approach that was below the required glide path. During this maneuver, the aircraft type collided with a radio antenna situated atop a nearby building. The impact caused immediate damage to the aircraft's control and hydraulic lines.
Following the collision, the aircraft proceeded to land; however, due to the compromised hydraulic systems, the crew could not decelerate sufficiently. The aircraft overran the runway, resulting in the separation of the nose landing gear before finally coming to a halt. There were zero fatalities among the nine people on board, and all occupants escaped the wreckage without injury. While no lives were lost, the impact and subsequent overrun resulted in the aircraft being declared a total loss.
Findings
Investigations into the incident identified that the primary contributing factor was an improperly planned approach by the crew, which led to the aircraft flying at an insufficient altitude. The subsequent inability to stop the plane on the runway was a direct consequence of the hydraulic system damage sustained during the initial strike with the antenna.
