What happened
During a scheduled maritime patrol mission departing from Rota Naval Air Station (NAS), an aircraft went down in the Atlantic Ocean. The incident occurred at a distance of roughly 40 km from the air station. At the time of the crash, the aircraft was engaged in its patrol flight phase.
There were 10 fatalities recorded as a result of the impact. No other injuries were reported among the occupants.
