Incident Overview
A maritime survey flight operating off the coast of Masirah Island encountered a critical mechanical issue when the propeller separated from engine number four, which subsequently caught fire. Shortly thereafter, engine number three lost power, followed by engines one and two, which also failed.
Sequence of Events
The crew initially lost altitude but managed to regain control of the aircraft at an altitude of 2,500 feet. Despite the loss of all engine power, the pilots executed a controlled ditching approximately 8 kilometers offshore.
Rescue and Loss
All 11 occupants aboard were promptly rescued, and no injuries were reported. The aircraft sank and was lost.
