On July 8, 2025, an Antonov An-2, registration RA-40451, was operating a flight from the Kapitonovka settlement toward the Zhigansk airport area. The aircraft, operated by OOO "YakutiaDiscovery", was tasked with transporting fishing and camp equipment to a remote location near the Olenek River.
The flight was part of a scheduled tour operation. On board the aircraft were the captain and two passengers: a guide with experience piloting the An-2 in the region and an aircraft maintenance specialist. The flight plan for the mission had been approved through the Yakut Air Traffic Services Area Control Center the previous day.
During the flight, the aircraft attempted to land at an airfield that was not suitable for such operations. The landing resulted in significant damage to the aircraft. No injuries or fatalities were reported among the crew or passengers.
Due to the extreme inaccessibility of the accident site, investigators were unable to perform a physical inspection of the aircraft or its power plant. Consequently, sufficient objective data was unavailable to finalize the specific mechanics of the failure.
