On October 3, 2018, an AS 350 B3e helicopter, registration RA-07272, operated by LLC "Region Group Leasing," was engaged in aerial work along a route from the "Helicopter-Moscow" landing site to the Tarnoga geodetic point. The flight departed from the initial landing site at 07:19. On board the aircraft were the captain and two passengers.
Prior to departure, the captain obtained meteorological information independently via the Roshydromet website. The captain determined that the weather forecast met the minimum requirements for visual flight rules (VFR). Because the departure location lacked a medical professional, the captain exercised the authority to permit himself to fly without a pre-flight medical examination.
The aircraft was fully refueled with 540 liters of TS-1 fuel before takeoff. During the flight, the helicopter entered the area of the village of Vony shevo in the Soligalich district of the Kostroma region.
The accident resulted in four fatalities. The flight was part of an approved airspace use application submitted by LLC "Helicopter-M."
