On August 8, 2022, a Cessna 177RG, registration RA-2009G, operated by OOO "Vostok" Airline, was scheduled to perform two flights in airspace class G for forestry aviation purposes. Prior to the flights, the aircraft underwent maintenance and preparation at the airfield on August 7, 2022. This included refueling with 210 liters of AI-100 gasoline and the addition of one quart of oil to the engine.
On the day of the accident, the crew—consisting of a captain, a second pilot, and a flight observer—underwent medical examinations at the Ukhta airfield medical facility. Meteorological information was provided to the second pilot at 05:55, indicating that weather conditions at the airfield, along the flight route, and at alternate airfields were consistent with the flight assignment. The captain subsequently received additional weather updates from air traffic control before takeoff.
During the pre-flight phase, the second pilot performed the fuel sediment check and pre-flight inspection. While the aircraft was prepared under the captain's supervision, it was noted that the takeoff weight and center of gravity could not be determined for the final flight due to missing technical documentation.
The accident resulted in three fatalities among the crew members. The aircraft, a 1973 model, had a recorded 3,400 flight hours and 3,580 landings.
