Accident Details
On May 14, 2016, a Eurocopter AS-350B3 helicopter, registered as RA-07259, was scheduled to fly from the Sosny locality to the Lepsari locality. The helicopter carried the pilot-in-command and one passenger.
The pilot initiated takeoff at 05:54 local time (08:54 local time). According to a security guard's account, the helicopter lifted off and flew over Sukhodolskoye Lake toward Lake Ladoga, climbing to an altitude of approximately 20 meters. The guard reported no unusual behavior during the climb.
Impact and Aftermath
Witnesses observed the helicopter strike an electrical power line before falling into the water. The accident time, 05:55 (08:55 local time), was determined by the activation of network protection equipment when the power line wires broke.
Upon impact with the water surface, the helicopter sustained substantial damage and sank. Both the pilot and the passenger died in the accident.
