What happened
On September 26, 2010, a Kamov Ka-32S, registration RA-31584, crashed in the vicinity of Mount Fisht near Sochi, Krasnodar Krai. The aircraft was operated by the company Aero-Kamally (OOO DP Aero-Kamov) and was engaged in cargo loading and unloading operations for a client, Image-Stroy. The mission involved transporting concrete in external buckets from Nizhny Solokh-Aul to the Lunnaia Poliana helipad to support cable car construction, as well as moving rebar from a local warehouse to various construction sites.
The flight crew had completed pre-flight preparations at the Solokh-Aul base starting at 05:30 UTC on the day of the accident. This preparation included a meteorological consultation via telephone with the Sochi Airport meteorological station to review current and forecasted weather conditions along the flight route. At the time of departure, the weather conditions at the departure site and the forecast for the route between Solokh-Aul and Lunnaia Poliana were within the pilot's minimum requirements and did not prevent the execution of the daytime flight mission.
