On October 30, 2023, a Mi-2 helicopter, registration RA-14266, was involved in an accident in the Republic of Sakha, Russia. The incident took place approximately 325 km northeast of the settlement of Zhigansk, near the Jardzhan River in the Verkhoyansk Ridge foothills.
Prior to the accident, the aircraft had been utilized for transporting passengers from a hunting location. The flight crew had previously landed at the 'Kvadrat' landing pad near Zhigansk airfield to refuel with 1070 liters of TS-1 fuel following several days of weather-related delays.
The accident occurred during the daytime phase of flight. The aircraft was attempting to take off using the 'air cushion' effect over terrain covered in snow.
There were no fatalities or injuries reported in relation to this event.
