On June 22, 2018, an Mi-2 helicopter, registration RA-23728, was conducting a series of flights near the Langepas airfield in the Nizhnevartovsk district. The mission, operated by AO 'AK Helix', involved transporting representatives from LUKOIL-AVCO LLC to various landing sites for the purpose of collecting soil and water samples to monitor environmental conditions.
The flight route included stops at Pokachi airfield and several aerial survey locations within the Shchuchye licensed area. Prior to the flight, the aircraft had undergone maintenance, including the replacement of a main rotor blade due to service life expiration, followed by a successful test hover.
During the operation, the aircraft encountered an obstacle. The impact caused significant structural damage to the helicopter's components, specifically the main rotor blade spar and the lever used for rotating the blade.
The accident resulted in one fatality. The flight was conducted under approved flight plans and permits issued by the Tyumen and Ural Air Traffic Control Centers.
