On February 14, 2020, an Mi-8AMT helicopter, registration RA-24636, operated by OOO Aviapredpriyatie "Skol", was engaged in a flight plan involving a route between Sabetta airport and Leskinsky LU, pumping station No. 1. The flight was originally scheduled for February 12 and 13, but was delayed by two days due to weather conditions.
The crew arrived at Sabetta airport at 02:50 on the morning of the accident. Following pre-flight medical examinations and receiving a local weather forecast that did not preclude flight, the aircraft was refueled with 1535 kg of TS-1 fuel. The total fuel load for the first flight of the day was 3585 kg.
During the flight, the aircraft experienced an uncontrolled descent and collided with the ground. The accident resulted in two fatalities and no other injuries were reported.
Investigation findings indicated that the captain decided to attempt a landing at Sabetta airfield despite weather conditions that did not meet regulatory requirements. The crew's performance was further impacted by failures in coordination and the use of onboard equipment.
