On December 19, 2022, a Mi-8T helicopter, registration RA-24213, was performing inspection duties for a winter road. The flight was part of a mission traveling between Magadan-13PA, the Palatka settlement, and the Nyavlennga mine area. The aircraft was carrying 1,000 kg of cargo and three passengers under a flight request from LLC 'Congo'.
During the landing phase at approximately 00:38, the crew attempted to land at a site selected from the air near the Nyavlennga mine. During the maneuver, the aircraft collided with a prefabricated outbuilding. The impact caused the rotor blades to strike the ground, leading to the destruction of the helicopter.
All occupants were able to evacuate the aircraft on their own. While the three passengers and the crew were not killed in the collision, the flight engineer sustained serious bodily injuries during the evacuation process.
The flight was being conducted under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) at altitudes ranging between 500 and 1,000 meters. Following the incident, the second pilot contacted Magadan Air Traffic Control via telephone to report the accident.
