Accident Details
On 18–19 December 2022, a Mil Mi-8T helicopter with registration RA-24213 was conducting aerial work to survey a winter road. The flight route was: Magadan-13PA – near the settlement of Palatka – near the Niavlenga mine – near Palatka – Magadan-13PA.
Sequence of Events
On 18 December at 22:30 local time, the crew departed from Magadan-13PA. A landing was made at 22:55 on a site selected from the air near Palatka. On the ground, 1,000 kg of cargo and two passengers (representatives of the customer) were loaded. The helicopter took off from the Palatka site at 23:21. The flight was conducted under visual flight rules at altitudes of 500–1,000 m above sea level.
On 19 December at 00:38, during a landing at a site selected from the air near the Niavlenga mine, the helicopter collided with a utility building (a portable cabin). Subsequently, the main rotor blades contacted the ground, leading to the destruction of the aircraft.
Aftermath
All persons on board exited the helicopter without assistance. No injuries or fatalities are reported in the source.
The helicopter was owned by an individual, and the flight was conducted under a contract between the owner and OOO Polar-Avia, based on a flight request from OOO Kongo, whose founder is the helicopter owner.
