On 26 November 2015, a Mi-8T helicopter (RA-25361) crashed into the ice of the Yenisei River shortly after takeoff from Igarka, killing the crew and 9 passengers.

Flight Preparation

On 26 November 2015, the crew of a Mil Mi-8T helicopter, registration RA-25361, prepared for a commercial passenger flight. The planned route was from Igarka Airport to a landing site "NPS-2", then to the settlement of Krasnoselkup, and back to Igarka. After undergoing a medical examination, a preflight briefing, and a weather forecast review, the crew began preparing the helicopter for departure.

Takeoff and Accident Sequence

At 03:44, after passengers boarded, the crew started the engines. At 03:56:50, after completing required procedures, the helicopter taxied to the holding point. Following a hover check and air traffic control clearance, the crew executed a "fixed-wing" style takeoff with 22 passengers on board. The takeoff mass was 10,528 kg, and the center of gravity was 210 mm, both within the helicopter's flight manual limits.

Approximately 1.5 minutes after takeoff, while making a right turn at a true altitude of about 105 meters, the helicopter began to develop a right roll. At 03:59, with a right roll exceeding 50° and an indicated airspeed of approximately 270 km/h, the helicopter struck the ice surface of the Yenisei River.

Aftermath

The accident resulted in the deaths of the crew and nine passengers. The helicopter sustained significant damage, but no fire occurred.
