On January 15, 2020, a Robinson R-44 II, registration RA-07385, operated by OOO "StroyBiznes" departed from Heliport Reutov for a flight to the Volen area. The flight crew consisted of a pilot-in-command and two passengers. Prior to departure, the pilot completed pre-flight inspections and confirmed the aircraft was undergoing maintenance by specialists from LLC "Helicopter Engineering."
The pilot obtained weather forecasts via the OGIMET website, which did not preclude flight operations. At 07:10, the aircraft took off with 140 liters of 100LL gasoline on board. At 07:32, the pilot notified Sheremetyevo-Approach of the intention to proceed to Volen for an intermediate landing.
During the flight, the aircraft encountered weather conditions characterized by winds up to 21 m/s and moderate to strong turbulence. In an attempt to correct the aircraft's response to these conditions, the pilot moved the throttle lever, which deactivated the governor and caused a loss of engine speed.
The helicopter attempted a forced landing on uneven terrain during a tailwind. During this maneuver, the pilot lost control, causing the aircraft to collide with the ground and overturn approximately 2 km northeast of the settlement of Novosinkovo.
