Narrative
After takeoff from Uchiza Airport, while climbing, the pilot reported engine problems to air traffic control and elected to return to the airport. During the approach, the pilot realized that a landing was not possible as weather conditions had deteriorated rapidly. He then decided to attempt an emergency landing along the Huallaga River. Upon landing, the aircraft slid for a few dozen meters and eventually came to rest upside down.
Occupants and Damage
Both occupants escaped uninjured. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair.
Probable Cause
The official investigation determined that the probable cause of the accident was a fire on the left engine after takeoff for unknown reasons.
