An aircraft named Fuji ditched in the waters near Okinawa following an engine malfunction during cruise, resulting in ten fatalities and two survivors among the occupants.

What happened

During a cruise phase flight over the East China Sea, the crew reported technical difficulties involving one of the engines. In response to the developing situation, the pilot initiated a diversion toward Naha. However, the aircraft was ultimately unable to reach the destination and was ditched in the waters off Kuba Island in Okinawa.

The incident resulted in significant loss of life. While two passengers were successfully rescued from the water, 10 other occupants perished in the accident. The aircraft, which had been named 'Fuji', was destroyed and lost in the event.
