What happened
On August 29, 2017, a Robinson R22 Beta helicopter (registration UR-XXXX) was involved in a fatal accident near the village of Yablunytsia in the Yaremcha Raion of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. The aircraft was engaged in search and rescue operations in a difficult-to-access terrain.
At approximately 14:40 local time, wreckage from the aircraft and the body of a male individual were discovered by responders in the vicinity. The incident resulted in the death of the pilot.
The investigation
The National Bureau of Air Accident Investigation of Ukraine (NBAAI) initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash. The investigation focused on determining the cause of the accident during the search and rescue mission.
