What happened
On October 12, 2020, at approximately 12:18 UTC, a RA-30 aircraft registered as N-918Y (United States) was conducting a private flight from Tsuniv to Lviv. During the post-landing rollout on runway heading 180°, all three landing gear legs collapsed simultaneously. This structural failure resulted in the destruction of both engine propellers and brought the aircraft to a stop on the runway surface.
The investigation
The National Bureau of Air Accident Investigation of Ukraine (NBAAI) initiated an inquiry into this serious incident. Investigators examined the sequence of events leading to the gear collapse and assessed the resulting damage to the airframe and propulsion system.
Findings
The primary event was the collapse of all three landing gear legs during the ground roll phase. Despite the significant structural failure, there was no fire following the incident. The crew and the single passenger were uninjured. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the propellers due to contact with the runway.
