Incident Details
At 11:17 UTC, during a cargo flight in support of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) mission, a serious incident occurred involving an Antonov An-26 aircraft, registration UR-CEP, operated by PrJSC Avia Company Constanta, at Bor airfield in the Republic of South Sudan.
During the landing approach, on the flare stage, the aircraft collided with a soil embankment located outside a drainage ditch beyond the runway edge. The collision resulted in a hard landing on the nose landing gear. Following the hard landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area. The nature and extent of damage to the aircraft are being determined by the airline's engineering commission. The crew was not injured.
Investigation
In accordance with paragraph 5.1.2 of Annex 13 to the Chicago Convention and paragraph 4 of the Rules and Procedure for Technical Investigation of Aviation Accidents and Incidents in Civil Aviation, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on May 20, 2022, No. 610, the National Bureau of Air Accidents Investigation (NBRA) has initiated an investigation into the event. The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the aviation authority of South Sudan, the UN WFP mission, and the aircraft operator. NBRA has published a preliminary report.
