What happened
At approximately 16:35 UTC, an Antonov An-26B aircraft bearing the registration UR-CQE was executing flight VKA-931 from Goose Bay to Montreal, Canada. The aircraft is operated by Vulkan Air (TОВ «Вулкан Ейр»).
During the landing roll on Runway 24L at Goose Bay, the aircraft experienced a catastrophic failure of the pneumatic tires on all four wheels of the main landing gear (both left and right bogies). Following the stop, the crew commander elected to vacate the runway under their own power.
All crew members aboard sustained no physical injuries. The incident was classified as a serious incident requiring technical investigation under item 10 of the Rules approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 610 on May 20, 2022.
The investigation
The National Bureau for Investigation of Civil Aviation Accidents (NBAAI) initiated a technical investigation into the serious incident. The scope of the inquiry focuses on the mechanical and operational factors leading to the simultaneous destruction of all main gear tires during the landing phase.
Findings
All four tires of the main landing gear were destroyed during the landing roll.
The investigation established that the failure occurred while the aircraft was decelerating on Runway 24L. The crew's decision to clear the runway independently after stopping indicates that the airframe and braking systems remained functional despite the loss of tire integrity.
