Incident Overview
Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752, a Boeing 737-800 with registration UR-PSR, crashed shortly after departure from Tehran on a scheduled flight to Kyiv (Boryspil). The accident occurred at 02:45 UTC, approximately two minutes after takeoff. Preliminary information from media sources indicated a fire broke out in flight. All passengers and crew members on board died.
Investigation and International Involvement
Ukraine's National Bureau of Air Accidents Investigation established a commission to participate in the inquiry. An authorized representative of Ukraine, accompanied by a group of advisors and experts, arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Investigators were tasked with gathering as much information as possible at the scene and examining the aircraft wreckage to ensure objectivity and impartiality in the investigation. Ukrainian specialists, in accordance with ICAO standards and recommended practices, were present during the reading, processing, and analysis of data from the flight recorders (black boxes).
Analysis of Flight Recorders
The parametric flight data recorder (FDR) and cockpit voice recorder (CVR) from the Boeing 737-800 were fully decoded. According to FDR data, from the start of recording until the stop, no technical malfunctions or other negative factors that could affect flight safety were found. The CVR information indicated no deviations in crew performance from engine start until the stop of the voice recorder. The international technical investigation commission, consisting of experts from the National Bureau and Ukraine International Airlines, continued its work in accordance with international aviation accident investigation practices.
Conclusion
The results of the black box decoding, performed at the laboratory of the Bureau of Investigation and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (France), convinced all participants of the international investigation that the catastrophe of Flight PS752 occurred as a result of a missile attack.
