2005 Let L-410-25 accident at Orio al Serio (9A-BTA)

Overview and Flight Details On 30 October 2005, at 21:04 UTC (22:04 local time), a Let L-410-25 with registration 9A-BTA crashed in the vicinity of Orio al Serio Airport (BG), Italy. The aircraft was operating as Trade Air Flight 729, a cargo service, and had departed from Orio al Serio (LIME) bound for Zagreb (LDZA). The cargo consisted of small packages with a total weight of 1,600 kg as calculated for takeoff. ## Accident Sequence After takeoff, the aircraft began a left turn that became increasingly pronounced, accompanied by a loss of altitude. This led to the aircraft impacting the ground near the localities of Azzano di S. Paolo and Grassobbio, approximately one kilometer southwest of the runway. The aircraft was completely destroyed in the impact. ## Casualties and Investigation All three people on board the aircraft, consisting of two crew members and one passenger, died in the accident. The Italian National Agency for the Safety of Flight (ANSV) was informed of the event by ENAC and ENAV SpA. The ANSV conducted an operational site visit on 1 November 2005. In accordance with international regulations, the ANSV notified the Civil Aviation Department of the Czech Republic (state of production) and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Communication of Croatia (state of registration and operator).
