What happened
On a flight departing from Galapagos International Airport on Baltra Island, a twin engine aircraft was en route to Puerto Villalmil Airport on Isabela Island. The flight, which included the pilot and one passenger, departed at 12:00 local time.
During the descent phase of the flight, the pilot received clearance to descend toward the destination airport. At approximately 12:19 local time, the aircraft experienced a loss of control. The plane impacted the ocean surface roughly three minutes before its scheduled arrival. Search efforts located the wreckage a few hundred meters away from the shore at 16:55 local time. The accident resulted in two fatalities, as both the pilot and the passenger were killed in the crash.
