What happened
During a flight at an altitude of 5,500 feet, the aircraft experienced a sudden loss of altitude. The descent ended when the plane struck a mountain slope situated in the vicinity of Santa Rita de Santa Teresa del Tuy. Upon impact, the wreckage ignited, leading to a post-crash fire that completely destroyed the airframe.
There were two fatalities recorded in the accident, as both occupants of the aircraft perished during the event.
Findings
Official investigations concluded that the crash was the result of the pilot experiencing spatial disorientation. At the time of the incident, the crew was operating under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) while flying within Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC).
