Incident Details
The incident began when the aircraft, shortly after takeoff from Lagos-Murtala Muhammed Airport on a journey to Calabar, experienced engine difficulties. The pilot promptly communicated this to air traffic control and received clearance to return to the airport. While attempting an emergency landing, the aircraft collided with a tree and subsequently crashed in the Igbogbo area, which is a southern suburb of Ikorodu, situated around 25 kilometers east of the airport.
Injuries and Fatalities
Regarding the occupants, there were three individuals on board consisting of the pilot and two passengers. The pilot and one passenger died as a result of the crash. The remaining passenger was seriously injured.
