What happened
Shortly after departing Karachi Airport on a positioning flight to Lahore, a single-engine Percival encountered another aircraft in the airspace. The second aircraft was a Beechcraft E17B Staggerwing, registered as VT-AKJ, operating for Indian National Airways. At the time of the incident, this Beechcraft was on final approach to land at Mauripur Airport and was carrying one pilot.
The two aircraft collided in mid-air. Following the impact, both planes lost control and descended rapidly into a field situated approximately 50 kilometers north of Karachi. The crash resulted in the death of the Percival pilot. In contrast, the pilot of the Beechcraft E17B survived the accident.
